Project Overview

Perched in an elevated position overlooking Kiama’s dramatic coastline, this modern coastal home was designed to maximise extraordinary ocean views while delivering a warm, practical and highly liveable layout for everyday family life.

The vision was to create a home that feels elevated yet relaxed, where indoor and outdoor living flow naturally and the architecture complements the surrounding coastal landscape.

The Vision

Inspired by contemporary coastal architecture, the design combines clean lines, expansive glazing and a calming natural palette. Raked ceilings and extensive window forms were intentionally designed to frame the coastline from every angle, drawing the view deep into the living spaces. Externally, vertical cladding, stonework and warm detailing create a bold yet beachside façade, modern in form but grounded in coastal warmth.

Built to suit a marine environment, the home incorporates:

• Exposed aggregate concrete to driveway and pathways

Material selection was driven by durability, longevity and coastal resilience without compromising on architectural impact.

The Outcome

The upper living area opens effortlessly to the ocean outlook, with raked ceilings and large windows creating a bright, uplifting atmosphere. The façade achieves a refined balance between modern form and warm, natural texture, while the fireplace wall serves as both an architectural statement and a functional gathering point. For the owners, the standout moments are the balcony’s connection to the coastline, the thoughtfully designed kitchen, the bright and timeless bathrooms, and the calm created by the layered coastal palette.
